The bible is pornographic and we don't want our children reading it.
Biblical Errancy Pamphlets by Dennis McKinsey Pamphlet 1 Q20. see also p 69 & 285 of EBE. This is one of McKinsey's more stupid comments. The bible is a historical work and the Old Testament that contains some of the more graphic incidents was written some 2,400-3,500 years ago, during the middle bronze age. Perhaps he wishes the authors to have censored their material like some wanted to censor Lady Chatterly's Lover. For a so called "free thinker" his idea is ludicrous. Clearly McKinsey has never hear of children's bibles. No preacher is going to describe the rape of the concubine at Gibeah during the Sunday morning family service. When a young person has his own bible he will have been exposed to enough rape, sex and violence on the media to be able to cope with some of the more colourful biblical stories.
