Responses to --- My comments on the terrorist events of 11 Sep 2001

Here are some of the responses I have received:-

Ross,

I have read your comments and, although they are difficult to accept in the wake of such a tragedy, your point could not be more valid. I believe there is a message from God in this horror, and as you state, if we do not pay heed to this message, then the deaths are in vain and we should expect far worse to come. I have wept and prayed for the families and loved ones of these victims, for the wounded, and for those who do not yet know God. I join you in your message to the world. You may share my thoughts with others if you wish.

God bless you and may He give us the strength to fight this evil thrust itself into our lives.

Your brother in Christ,

Glen

I've been drawn to this story like everyone. While I know it won't be a popular comment. I came to the Babylon connection as well, and was looking for others who see this Also. I'm not a wiz on the computer so hopefully this gets to someone. You may want to look closer at rev 17-9 keeping in mind that there are seven buildings that made up the wtc. xxx

Dear Ross

I finally came across your comments on the dreadful events in New York and Washington DC of 11 Sep 01. I praise God for what you have written.

President Bush, the Archbishop of Canterbury and so many other people who have commented on the tragedy (who I have thought might have some sensitivity to things spiritual) have failed to remark that all of this could only be possible because of a world which has turned its back on God. In spite of being a Christian I have found myself wondering if I am seriously off beam in thinking this. I therefore began a search on the Internet, thinking there must be a brother or sister out there whom God has spoken to about this as He has spoken to me. It has taken me some time to stumble across your site - but it was worth the wait.

After a half hour or so gawking stunned at what I saw on the television set (BBC World) in Moscow, where I live, literally half an hour after the two aircraft had hit the twin towers, I felt I just had to get away to pray. An overwhelming sense of God's presence descended on me. I sensed His pain that the only nation in the world founded on the truly Christian principles of the Founding Fathers (I too have travelled extensively in the USA), which He has blessed so abundantly, has sunk so defiantly into materialism and lust. I prayed that President Bush would call on America to prostrate itself in the presence of God to ask for mercy - as Abraham Lincoln did three times and as so many Biblical heroes have done in similar situations - Moses, Joshua David, Hezekiah. It may yet happen.

But I also felt convicted once again about sin in my own life and it drove me to my knees. I prayed for America, I prayed for Britain and Russia all of which I love dearly but I also prayed that I might not be found wanting when I stand before the Almighty. I praise God and thank Him for His tremendous mercy to me and I know that this event, for all of its pain and tremendous human tragedy, will deepen my walk with Him and help me to "watch and pray" and to minister to others as I never have before. Truly I deserved nothing better than to be among the victims of this tragedy (as you suggest in your commentary) but God has allowed me to live to see another day. Truly it makes me tremble.

I thank Him for the simplicity and power of the comments you have made on this tragedy and I will be referring many others to them.

I am a serving Royal Air Force officer running a project in Russia, financed by the British Government. The purpose of the project is to help retiring Russian military find their way into jobs in civilian life. It is a marvellous opportunity to present the claims of Jesus Christ to them and I frequently have the opportunity to do this. I have lived here running this unusual project for the last 7 years. Just thought you might be interested to know.

In the love of Jesus Christ

Thank you for standing bold in the teachings of the scriptures in the shadow of the tragedy that has bestruck those of us in the U.S., and the world. There are so many who are turning to the worship of the riches that have been lost, that the Great and Holy Creator is being forgotten. We know that through Him, and Him only, will we come through this with a peace and closure that we all need. Justice will be served. If not through acts of the military, then through the judgment of God our Master and Creator. Again thank you for your witness.

Hi Ross,

I read your commentary in the terrorist attack on the US. you say the God is calling America back to Him and away from our idols. I am torn and confused. Must we give up everything we have in order to return to the Lord? Can we as a nation exchange Dollars for goods and services without the Dollar being the idol that we have worshiped? Can we protect ourselves with our powerful military and still live as God's children? Can we rebuild the World Trade Center without it being the new Tower of Babble? Does one conflict with the other? Or can we keep our imperfect worldly systems in their place while we hold God and our spirituality above that which is worldly?

God Bless

Reply -- firstly Babylon was condemned because of her excessive luxuries (Rev 18:3 ) and because she gave herself glory (18:7). Secondly God's people are told to come out of her, so that they will not share in her sins and therefore in her plagues (18:4). We are in the world but not of it, we should not love the world (1 John 2:15-17). As individuals we can have personal righteousness while the nation comes under judgement. As long as our universities are secular they will continue to turn out leaders, lawmakers and decision makers who will bring the country under judgement. Jesus taught more about money than any other topic. Christians need to be salt and light rather than adopting a ghetto mentality. Fortunately in the field of philosophy and apologetics God is raising up intelligent individuals who can defend the faith in our universities, so the future does seem brighter.

(Prov 14:34 NIV) Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

Hi again Russ,

I just read your section on the attacks on the U.S. and Revelation, and I could not agree with you more. This is God's wrath against us. But so many Americans will not see it as that, and will only want to strike back at the terrorist and destroy more human life, and all the while continue on with our Rich and sinnful life. Humans will NEVER learn (that is evident from the chapters in Revelation). But, as many Christians as possible MUST realize that NOW is the time to repent of our sins, and become the people that Jesus wants us to be. We, with God's help must defeat Babylon the whore, even as mankind as a whole falls deeper under her spell. But, unfortunately, that is how it is to be. As a side note, the city of New York plans on REBUILDING the Twin Towers! And I am sure they will be more fancy than ever (while many New Yorkers live in cardboard boxes and under the subways..........how EVIL we humans have become). Thanks for your interpretation of this terrible event. I am with you 100% on your interpretation. Thanks again.

God Bless......

I was extremely impressed with your essay on the recent World Trade Center tragedy, which I read online. I agree completely with your point of view, but far too few people are willing to see the situation from this standpoint (or have the courage to admit it). The world should definitely take these events as not only meaningless tragedies but a wake-up call to search the Scriptures for ourselves, forsake our worship of Money, and return fully to God.

Thanks again for your powerful and well-written statements.

Since the beginning of this tradgedy I have mourned for those innocent victims. I have had visions of their suffering and mourning and I turned to God for understanding and wisdom. After deep prayer and repentance God gave me peace and direction and brought me to this exact scripture last night by just the random opening of the Bible. I shared this with my husband and I was deeply horrified but had to except BABYLON=NEW YORK/AMERICA. I tried to convince myself it was another country or it was not happening yet but God's voice comforted me and allowed me to accept this reality. As harsh as it is, we need to change our focus to God. We have taken Prayer out of schools in order not to offend other religion's when our praises and thanks should glorify our one and only Savior Jesus Christ. Our Father sent his only begotten son and we have forsaken our God. He has not forsaken us. There is so much more the Lord has revealed to me and I am so thankful that I am able to hear and heed to his WORD. Thanks for your article because it is a form of confirmation. God sent me here I am sure.

Ross,

I agree with everything you have said in your interpretation. About a week and half before this disaster I had a dream that shook me. I was in a desert running north as I was being chased by what something that can only be described as destruction. I stopped in my dream and said to myself "This is the apocalypse" as things destructed or exploded on either side of me. I have not had anymore dreams since then and had never had a dream anything like that before that night. At first I thought nothing of this dream, but since the events that have come to fruition, it has bothered me all the more. This could be just a coincidence or have some other meaning from God. Since that dream I have rededicated myself to being a Christian, and to resume my crusade to lead people to God.

In his name,

hello ross,

i read with interest your comments on september 11, 2001. you are right on target with many of your interpretations, however, i got the distinct impression that you are doom-sayer...

i know that most christians look at revelations, and it frightens them. i am steadfast, and unafraid, as i was on that fateful day in september. i was not shocked, and am only amazed that this did not happen sooner. yes, we are sinners. we were born sinners and we will die sinners. as a grace based christian, what got to me most was the replies i read on your website. one after the other, they seemed to gravitate toward the importance of sin, and even you eluded at one point in your interpretations of revelations that on judgement day in heaven our sins and/or good works will be the source of our rewards. that is completely untrue.

what sin is there that is so great that what Jesus did on the cross didn't render it dead? does He not sit at the right hand of His Father? for one sin to be unpardonable would make what He did a lie. sin is a non-issue on the personal level of today's christian and has been since the day He died for it. Jesus saw to that on the cross. after adam ate of the fruit of the tree, every living human born into the world except for Jesus was born a sinner. the rewards of heaven on judgement day will not be rewarded based on our sins or our good works. they will be rewarded based on our hearing His word and acting upon it in a timely fashion. each little pearl of faith we apply to His direction, and our obedience in doing so, is where our riches will be determined. the sins of babylon are a completely different set of dynamics than those of the christian living today. once you have accepted Jesus as your savior, your name cannot be blotted out of the book of life. period. no matter what.

as a grace based christian, it deeply disturbs me that men of your authority and position in the body of the church today continue to perpetuate the law based myth that works are the way to heaven. that's false. salvation is the way to heaven and has nothing to do with works. people believe what you have to say. no wonder so many of the lost turn away when men of your stature imply in authority that sinners are lost. it simply isn't true. if it were, then we would all burn in hell for we are all SINNERS. please, re-read the new testament. in it you will find the message of Jesus Christ and the apostle paul: GRACE. i bet you won't post this letter on your website!

Reply, as far as the sin issue is concerned Jesus is called the Lamb and he purchased men for God, nothing could be clearer, Jesus is the source of our salvation, we are saved by grace through faith for good works (Eph 2:8-10). Regarding rewards see: Rev 22:12 "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. The bible says quite a lot about rewards.
